Team MD Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Team DE

Despite a 4-run deficit in the fourth inning, Team MD almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-6 to Team DE on Thursday.

Team MD scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single in the fourth, a groundout by Trevin Whitelock in the fourth, a triple by Aidan Davis in the fifth, a groundout in the fifth, and a groundout in the sixth.

Team MD collected seven hits and Team DE had seven in the high-scoring affair

Team DE took an early lead in the first inning. A wild pitch by David Harkins scored one run for Team DE.

After Team DE scored one run in the top of the sixth, Team MD answered with one of their own. Team DE scored when Hassan Turner singled off of  Whitelock, driving in one run. Team MD then answered when Chase Thornton uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run.

Team MD knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Team MD scored one run when Chase Shepherd singled with zero outs in the first inning.

Team DE took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Bradley Marks singled off of David, driving in one run, Brady McBride hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, and Harkins threw a wild pitch, scoring one run.

Charlie Porter earned the win for Team DE. He went four innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out two. Harkins took the loss for Team MD. He tossed five innings, surrendering six runs, five hits, and striking out four.

Davis and Shepherd each collected multiple hits for Team MD. Whitelock led Team MD with two runs batted in. He went 0-for-4 on the day.

Marks led Team DE with two hits in four at bats.
